Three-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova makes a deserving return to the world’s top ten next week after advancing to the final of this WTA Premier event. She will face 2009 Sony Ericsson Open champion Victoria Azarenka.
Azarenka beat Vera Zvonareva 6-0, 6-3 on Thursday night while Sharapova ousted Germany’s Andrea Petkovic 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. The Russian tennis star is seeking her first title since May last year.
